I’ve got a question for you that I believe may fall under your expertise… I’ve been trying to workout more regularly to try and go for a goal time, as opposed to goals of finishing. One of my favorite things to do is
break rules, cheat, take short cuts. That’s it. Short cuts. I have a business partner who was born and raised in India. He is fascinated by American expressions. Phrases like ‘Short Cut’, as in what is ‘Short’, and why was it ‘Cut’. The etymology behind ‘Short Cut’ comes from when a shorter path is found than one traditionally used. The new path is cut shorter than the old path. Hence, ‘Short Cut.’
There are short cuts in a healthy diet, just like there are short cuts in almost everything else. The following are some of my favorite dietary short cuts.

Middle aged spread: To those unfamiliar with the term, Middle Aged Spread refers to how people, as they approach their mid-30’s, start gaining weight. There have been plenty of theories about why middle-agers gain weight, from blaming the hormonal changes of menopause to a natural tendency of our metabolism to decrease as we get older.

I was going to post the ‘All Things PT’ diet plan today – even though the last thing we need is another diet plan. The regular reader might remember a review done by Julia Belluz / Science-ish which found that every diet will help in losing weight, if one sticks to the diet plan. This begs the question, ‘Why do we need another losing weight diet plan?’ Good question. We don’t.
Instead, I was going to post on what, in general, constitutes a healthy daily diet. As I was researching this, I stumbled upon the Harvard Medical school guidelines for a healthy diet, and these guidelines are so close to my own, that I am accepting these as the official All Things PT guidelines to healthy eating – with a few modifications, of course.
